Cold Comfort: Put Hemorrhoids On Ice For Quick Pain Relief

[ad_1]

Emergency medical personnel recommend applying ice packs to soft tissue injuries to combat swelling, bleeding, and pain. Since an external hemorrhoid is an injury to delicate soft tissues, applying cold packs will reduce thrombosed external hemorrhoid symptoms. If you have ice and a clean, soft cloth, you can make your own temporary hemorrhoid pain relief compress. Direct application of cold provides fast relief from hemorrhoidal pain.

Cryotherapy gives quick relief from rectal itch and burning by numbing the nerve-rich and highly vascular tissues of the anus. Cold packs also stop bleeding hemorrhoids by decreasing blood flow, which temporarily shrinks swollen tissues and veins. Reducing external hemorrhoid swelling by a direct application of ice usually brings relief of hemorrhoid pain in minutes.

Here are three examples of cold therapy for hemorrhoids:

Hemorrhoid cryotherapy devices for home use

An ice suppository for hemorrhoid pain relief is an easy hemorrhoids home cure. Freeze plain water in a small finger shape, using a rubber glove. Or make narrow cubes, using special ice cube trays sold by sporting goods stores for use in water bottles. Many people use this hemorrhoid home remedy to relieve hemorrhoidal swelling, bleeding, and pain. Before inserting, allow the ice to melt a little and become smooth and slippery. To avoid injury, never apply ice to rectal tissues for more than a minute at a time.

A hemorrhoid product made specifically for relief of swollen external hemorrhoids is Anuice. This reusable cryogenic device is placed in the freezer, then inserted into the anus for 8 to 10 minutes of cold therapy that relieves pain, inflammation, spasm, and swelling.

Disposable cold compress for hemorrhoids

Cryostat and other disposable cold packs and cold compresses for hemorrhoid relief are not hard to find, but the price may not be worth it at $6 for six single-use pads. A compress that brings relief from hemorrhoid pain can be made at home easily, using crushed ice and a clean cloth. Another easy home remedy for hemorrhoids is to soak sanitary napkins in witch hazel, place in ziploc bags, and freeze until needed. Witch hazel is soothing and does not sting painful hemorrhoids. Apply cold packs for hemorrhoids to the exterior anal area for as long as 10 minutes at a time.

Medical cryotherapy to freeze hemorrhoids

Cryotherapy for hemorrhoids is an outpatient medical procedure which can be done when more conservative hemorrhoid treatment has failed. In cryotherapy, a thin probe is inserted which freezes the hemorrhoid, resulting in tissue death and sloughing several weeks later. Symptoms during recovery, such as oozing and pain, are often reported. However, many patients report complete relief from hemorrhoid symptoms on follow-up several months afterward. Cryotherapy is one of several medical procedures that can bring permanent relief from hemorrhoid pain. When performed properly under sterile conditions and with appropriate after care, hemorrhoid cryotherapy has no harmful side effects.

Why do some doctors recommend applying cold and hot packs to hemorrhoids?

Interestingly, both cold and hot are of benefit in relieving hemorrhoid symptoms. A recent study compared the effect of hot vs. cold therapy to relieve hemorrhoid pain. The study noted that soaking hemorrhoids in hot water daily for two weeks provided more pain relief than the same activity using cool baths. Wet heat helps the anal sphincter muscle to relax, reducing internal anal pressure – which in turn allows for greater healing of the injured hemorrhoid cushion and surrounding tissues. This can be especially helpful for an anal fissure as opposed to a thrombosed hemorrhoid.

Learn How to Make Beeswax Candles Easily

[ad_1]

Beeswax candles are very popular for their natural characteristics. They burn clean and leave little or no oil. They don’t require any fragrance oils because their natural odor is very pleasant. Beeswax candles lend an oriental feel to the environment they are in.

There are two ways one can make beeswax candles. One way is by simply buying a sheet of wax and rolling it. This is the easier of the two ways and even children can do it. It takes little time and effort. The other is the traditional candle making way.

Readily available beeswax candle sheets in different colors and with different fragrances can be purchased. With the width of the sheet facing you, place the wick along the width and start rolling it tight. Once you have attained the required thickness of the candle, you can cut the sheet. Make sure that there is no trapped air between the layers of the candle by tight rolling and pressing down on it.

Learning how to make beeswax candles the traditional way requires some time and practice. But once you learn how to do it, you can make any candle from any material.

Here is how a beeswax candle is made:

First melt the wax in a double boiler. Beeswax has a high melting point, so you have to keep the heat source on till the temperature reaches 170 degree Fahrenheit.

When the wax is just about to melt, you can add color and fragrance. To start with, just add a little as beeswax itself has good color and odor. You will also learn how the wax absorbs the color when you start with small quantities and add more as you make more candles.

After the wax has melted, you can pour it into the molds. When pouring the wax, make sure that your wick is in place and in nicely teetered to the mold with a hook or clip. After molding the wax, allow it to cool for six hours and more. You can also place the mold in a freezer after it has cooled in the open for more than five hours. Rapid cooling can make the candle crack. So do not place it into the freezer before five hours of open cooling and for not longer than ten minutes. After it has cooled, your candle is ready for burning.

Starbucks Iced Coffee Recipe Versus All Other Iced Coffee

[ad_1]

– Are All Recipes The Same?

If you like iced coffee then I expect as you are probably a serious coffee lover you love the starbucks iced coffee recipe. If you are reading this article then you have tasted and know what iced coffee is and you will certainly have tried a starbucks iced coffee recipe. But iced coffee is not what you are thinking it is. You do not make a cup of hot coffee and wait for it to cool down or chill it in the freezer to make a glass of iced coffee. You could not be more wrong! Yes of course iced coffee is a variety of a hot brewed coffee, but there is a method to make it, a method that is different from the way a hot coffee is brewed and the starbucks iced coffee recipe is just gorgeous.

Making Iced Coffee- Tips And Tricks

Hot coffees are hot-brewed, but if you want to make iced coffee the way it was made when it was started, then you have to cold-brew the coffee. Yes, you read that right – You do not need to heat coffee if you want to make an iced coffee. All you need is a special pot, cold water, and coarsely grounded coffee beans! Or if you prefer try the starbucks iced coffee recipe below and you can be the judge.

o Pour the cold water in the pot.

o Put in the coarsely grounded coffee beans.

Other Ideas for you to try:

o Put some of the coffee you’ve made in the freezer and make ice cubes out of it.

o Try adding a bit of sugar syrup and a little chocolate flavoring.

o Top off your iced coffee with a generous helping of whipped cream, chocolate sprinkles and a flake to really impress your friends- they will think you are an iced coffee expert or an employee of starbucks coffee house!

What will happen is that the cold water will extract the coffee flavors but will not extract the bitter compounds and the fatty oils that are present in the beans. This means that the iced coffee, which is made, will have less acid content than what it would have had if it were hot-brewed. Coffee made using this method was originally called iced coffee. This method was invented in 1962 by a chemical engineer, Todd Simpson, and his company is still around today (It’s called Toddy Products).

If you choose to make iced coffee using the hot-brew method, then you must get the coffee into the refrigerator once it reaches room temperature. If you allow it to get colder than that, then it may lose its flavor.

Starbucks Iced Coffee Recipe:

Starbucks Frappuccino

o 2 shots (3 oz.) espresso

o 1/4 cup granulated sugar

o 2 1/2 cups low-fat milk

o 1 Tbls. pectin OR 1 tsp. pectin + 1 tsp. arrowroot

1. Stir sugar into espresso. Cool mixture.

2. Stir milk and pectin into espresso mixture until pectin is dissolved.

3. Fill a glass with ice and either serve mixture over ice, or pour glass contents into blender and blend for 30-45 seconds. Enjoy!

A Simple Introduction of Blanching

[ad_1]

When talking about cooking methods, we just can’t forget blanching which is a very practical cooking technique. Thus, if you plan to enhance the color, taste, and freshness of vegetables, blanching will be a good choice, which is a simple cooking process. Blanching is really not a hard skill to learn and it’s usually a certain choice for a cooker.

When vegetables, such as tomatoes, almonds and others, need to be peeled, a process of blanching will make this problem quite easier. Before putting food in the freezer for preservation, it is highly recommended to blanch it first. This will stop the enzymes and bacteria from making the food go bad. What’s more, the blanching process can also have a good effect on keeping the food crisp, tasteful and colorful when the food is put in a freezer.

You can also eat the blanched food directly. For example, when you go to a restaurant, the vegetables you ordered on the platters are often blanched to keep crispy and fresh. When you intend to blanch your food, all of the things you need would be a large pot of boiling water, cold water and a slotted spoon. Plunge the food into the boiling water for quite a while (controlling the time length), then immerse it to the ice cold water quickly. Then take it out and it is okay. In the following, some detailed steps will be introduced. Before blanching, you will have to prepare some ingredients which will include salt, vegetables and large pots. You won’t make it without any one of them. Here are the detailed steps.

Step 1. Boil a large pot of water rapidly with a high temperature. Be sure you put sufficient salt into the water to make it taste lightly salty.

Step 2. As the water becomes hot, fill a bowl with enough ice and then pour sufficient cold water to the top of the ice bowl. Then it is prepared.

Step 3. Wait till the water become boiling. Then to keep the water boiling please cut the vegetables into small sizes when you add them into the water.

Step 4. Boil the vegetables for a while, don’t take them out before they are barely cooked. Make sure the vegetables are still tender and crisp. This step may take you a relatively long time.

Step 5. Look carefully, once the vegetables are done, take them out as quickly as possible. Then at once put them into the ice bowl we have prepared in step 2.

Step 6. When the vegetables do not feel warm, remove them from the ice at once.

Till the 6th step, this process is well accomplished. Please just do as the introductions above taught. And this normal method is applicable to most kinds of vegetables. Some tips will be paid attention to for blanching to help people use it more easily. What we have to pay attention to is that the time length of blanching should be controlled carefully. If the sizes and kinds of vegetables are different, then the blanching time varies. And at the same time, the blanching technique is also variable for green vegetables and root vegetables.

Did you know the benefits and process of this method? Most kinds of vegetables can be blanched before the cold winter come. It will help you to not only preserve the appearance of your plants, but also it will keep the important nutrient contents.

The Doggy Hamburger Helper

[ad_1]

This Doggy Hamburger Helper natural dog food recipe is a well rounded meal that is vet approved for your dog. You will want to make this recipe work for you by making it larger or smaller depending on your dog’s needs and size. A larger dog will eat more than a smaller dog. Also, dogs that get more exercise than others will also need more.

If you are unsure as to what the serving size is for your pooch, ask your vet. They can tell you how much to give per meal. Remember to tell your vet whether you plan to serve with a commercial dry food or alone to get the proper portion size. You will need the following ingredients to make your Helper:

o 2 cups of ground beef

o 4 hard boiled eggs

o 1 cup cooked plain oatmeal

o 2 jars of baby food carrots

o 2 jars of baby food green beans or peas

o ¼ cup of cottage cheese

There are 2 ways to prepare this dish, cooked or raw. If you are going to cook your dog food you will first want to begin making your Doggy Hamburger Helper by frying the meat in a frying pan in a Tbsp of canola oil. This will give him the amount of good fat that he is required to have in his diet each day. Cook the oatmeal as directed on the package. Chop up the boiled eggs and add to a large mixing bowl.

Pour in the jars of baby food, add cooked ground beef and oatmeal, cottage cheese, and mix together well. You can substitute the oatmeal for a pasta type of your choice. Cool and serve at room temperature. When choosing to serve your Doggy Hamburger Helper raw, you will simply not cook the meat. Everything else will be prepared the same way.

Storing

Storing the Doggy Hamburger Helper is very simple. If you have prepared a week’s worth of food you will have to freeze a few portions as well as refrigerate. You can only store your doggy helper in the fridge for up to three days safely. After that, just like your own food, it must be discarded. The rest can be easily in the freezer. Add the proper serving of meal to a freezer baggie or container and seal.

If using baggies you can flatten to save room. Each day take out one baggie or container and thaw in the refrigerator. If you feed your dog early in the day, you may want to take the meal out the day before or at least the evening before. Do not thaw on the counter, as you risk introducing bacteria to your dog’s food. This is especially true if you are feeding the raw version of this meal. Once the helper has thawed, you can allow it to stand at room temperature or microwave till warm before serving. Either way your dog will be very happy to have this nutritious meal.

Stoneware Dishes and Dinner Sets – Beautiful and Useful

[ad_1]

With all its historical value and its allure for cooking like a pro, stoneware dishes and dinner sets have become all the rage these days. Stoneware is a safe material for cooking food and it is also one of the most admirable kinds of material that has been used throughout centuries as a cooking vessel. Stoneware is also famous for all the artistic designs that were created on such items.

But it is not just a thing of the past. Recently stoneware has become incredibly popular because of its usefulness in the kitchen. Whether you need stoneware dishes and dinner sets both or you wish to check them out by investing in a few dishes, you will end up loving this wonderful material.

Stoneware dishes and dinner sets are durable and this increases their value in the kitchen even more. They are actually made of clay that has been treated at very high temperatures to achieve the look of the vessels. They keep the food warm for a long time because the material has an inherent ability to store heat. Compared to china and porcelain dishes, they are much more resilient. It is because of a heavy amount of glaze that is applied to the original material which makes these dishes more resistant to chipping and cracking.

Stoneware dishes and dinner sets are dishwasher safe and are very easy to maintain and clean up. But there is more. You can use stoneware dishes in the microwave too! That one benefit just solves so many problems around the kitchen.

You can safely keep it in the oven or even freeze it if you would like to store something in it. But one caution when freezing in stoneware – care should be taken when taking the vessel out of the freezer. If there is too much of sudden temperature change the dishes are likely to break. To avoid this it is recommended to take the dish out of the freezer and set it aside for a few minutes before placing them in the oven or microwave.

Stoneware dinnerware sets are perfect for an attractive decor and they are very cost effective as well as durable.
