Propolene Glycol – A Common Skin Ingredient With Issues

[ad_1]

Propylene Glycol is a humectant and humidifying agent. This ingredient is generally used in brake fluid, anti freeze, laundry detergents, paints and floor wax. It is also used in the cosmetic industry and in some foods to keep products from melting or freezing in extreme temperatures by maintaining a balanced moisture content. Propylene glycol is on the US Food and Drug Administration’s list of ingredients which are Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) and is recognized by the World Health Organization as safe for use.

Despite its GRAS status there are a growing number of grass roots claims that propylene glycol is an inappropriate ingredient for cosmetics and food. This is largely due to the material safety data sheet (MSDS). An MSDS is a safety disclosure which instructs manufacturers and shippers on proper procedures for handling ingredients, for treating accidental exposure, and for cleaning up spills. An MSDS does not indicate how the ingredient will react when combined with other ingredients, and the effects of exposure to any hazardous substance depend on the dose, the duration, how you are exposed, personal traits and habits, and whether other chemicals are present. However the MSDS can be used as a guide of the ingredients potential for hazard.

The material safety data sheet for propylene glycol states that it is “implicated in contact dermatitis, kidney damage and liver abnormalities; can inhibit cell growth in human tests and can damage cell membranes causing rashes, dry skin and surface damage”. The concentrated form of the ingredient can cause temporary reddening, stinging or swelling when it comes in contact with the eyes or skin. Propylene glycol is a petroleum plastic that can easily penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin potentially weakening cellular structure.

These indications do not mean that a product formulated with the ingredient will have irritating properties but that it could. Due to the potential for Propylene glycol to weaken cellular structure it is likely that people with a propensity to sensitive, easily irritated or damaged skin are more likely to be affected. However, it is probably best to avoid any cosmetic ingredient that has these risk factors as there are always safe alternatives.

If there is any good news it is that the MSDS for the propylene glycol contains no indications of carcinogenicity or chronic exposure effects and tests both in humans that have worked with this substance and animals have confirmed this. However, there are good natural alternatives to propolene glycol and in this author’s opinion, synthetic ingredients should always be avoided where possible.

Review of the Honeywell RTH7500D Programmable Thermostat

[ad_1]

According to figures from the US Department of Energy, the average household in America spends $2,200 a year on heating and cooling bills. A significant proportion of this is due to waste. By installing an Energy Star rated thermostat such as the Honeywell RTH700D this cost can be cut by as much as 33%.

This is a remarkable saving that adds up to over $700 a year. If you consider that the Honeywell RTH7500D programmable thermostat only costs $60 at reputable online retailers such as Amazon you can see that it is a must-have device for your home.

The Honeywell thermostat is easy to self-install and can be made to regulate nearly any 24-volt heating or cooling system including both single and multi stage systems, separate heating and cooling systems, air conditioner units, gas pumps and electric fire places. The Honeywell RTH7500D itself can be run on batteries or from the mains.

Once the Honeywell RTH7500D is installed it is easy to program. It uses smart response technology and an easy-to-understand menu-driven interface that will allow you to control the temperature in your house for every day of the week. And within each day you can set up four different periods. Thus, you can have the heating/cooling on low while you are sleeping, have it turn up just before you wake up, have it go off while you are at work and have it come on again just before you return home from work. This means the HVAC system in your house is always running efficiently and you are more comfortable.

The Honeywell RTH7500D also has the capacity to account for daylight saving time changes and also has a vacation mode that allows you to go away during the Christmas holidays without fearing that your water pipes will burst during a sudden freeze.

The thermostat is accurate to within one degree Fahrenheit and can change instantly between heating and cooling systems to make sure the temperature in your house is exactly as you want it.

It is amazing how having the ability to really control the temperature in your house can not only make you more comfortable but also save you money. And not only are you saving money you are also using less electricity that has been produced by burning fossil fuels. This lowers your carbon output and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.

The Honeywell RTH7500D Conventional 7-Day Programmable Thermostat comes with a one-year warranty.

When you consider the above it is hard to think of a valid reason why you shouldn’t buy a Honeywell RTH7500D thermostat today.

Things to Eat Or Drink to Help Bring Fertility Back – I Want to Get Pregnant Now!

[ad_1]

There is not any one magic food recipe that will guarantee conception, but what you eat can increase your chance for conceiving. One thing you have to do is start eating healthy. Start by eating less meat and more vegetables. You should be eating a lot of green vegetables. If you are not big on vegetables, you can chop them up real small and add them to your meatloaf and you probably won’t even taste them.

Things to Eat Or Drink to Help Bring Fertility Back

It is good for you to drink plenty of green tea and Vitamin C too. Studies have shown that women who make these a part of their diet are more likely to become pregnant. Trans fat is something that you want to avoid whether you are trying to get pregnant or not. Trans fat is found in all kinds of foods. Here is a list of the top seven Trans fat foods.

1. Margarine – is loaded with trans fats and saturated fats, both of which can lead to heart disease. Look for soft-tub margarine because it is less likely to have trans fat.

2. Packaged foods – Cake mixes and other mixes have several grams of trans fat per serving. Look for reduced fat mixes.

3. Soups – Ramen noodles contain high levels of trans fat. See if you can find fat free or reduced fat soups.

4. Fast Food – Fries, chicken, and other foods are deep-fried in partially hydrogenated oil.

5. Frozen Food – Those delicious frozen pies, pot pies, pizzas, and waffles hs trans fat. In frozen foods, baked is always heart-healthier than breaded.

6. Baked Goods – More trans fat are used in baked products than any other foods.

7. Cookies and cakes from your local grocery have plenty of trans fat in them.

If you and your partner are really trying to get pregnant you should consider the importance of a healthy diet. Making small changes in what you eat and drink can make the difference between conceiving or not being able to conceive.

You don’t have to drastically change your diet to improve your chances of fertility, but one easy thing you can do is to drink more water. Drinking at least eight glasses of water daily will help to increase your fertility levels. Also, you should be eating high-fiber low-fat foods. This will improve your hormonal balance which will help your chances to conceive.

Add Color to Your Diet

You should eat more brightly colored fruits and vegetables. These foods are nutrient rich and have plenty of vitamin B and folic acid. These foods are essential for healthy sperm and ovaries. Fruits and vegetables also have plenty of vitamin C and iron. Both enhance the quality of sperm and improve the immune system. It is a good idea to include plenty of fruits in your diet.

Wholesome Grain Foods

Another food that you need to include for a healthy fertility diet are nutrient rich whole grains. These include brown rice, corn, whole wheat bread, millet, pasta, and oats. Whole grain foods are rich in vitamins E and B which are essential for the production of healthy eggs, hormone balance, and sperm.

Eat lots of Nuts!

Nuts contain natural plant proteins. Nuts and whole grains also contain vitamin B6 and folic acid which raise your fertility levels. Here are six of the healthiest nuts to eat.

1. Walnuts are a great source of healthy omega-3 essential fatty acids which have been found to protect the heart, promote better cognitive function, and provide anti-inflammatory benefits for asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, eczema and psoriasis.

2. Almonds contain almost 25 percent of your needed daily value for the important nutrient magnesium plus is rich in potassium, manganese, copper, the antioxidants vitamin E and selenium, and calcium.

3. Cashews are a lot lower in fat than most nuts, and 65 percent of this fat is unsaturated fatty acids. 90 percent is folic acids, which is a heart healthy fat found in olive oil.

4. Pecans are a great source of over 19 vitamins and minerals including vitamins E and A, copper, manganese, potassium, zinc, folic acid and calcium.

5. Brazil Nuts are very nutrient-rich and contain protein, copper, niacin, magnesium, fiber, vitamin E and Selenium. Selenium is a powerful antioxidant that works to neutralize dangerous free radicals. Studeis have shown that high amounts of selenium in Brazil nuts could help to prevent breast cancer.

6. Macadamia Nuts are high in protein, fiber, healthy monounsaturated fats, potassium and magnesium.

Fish in your diet

Omega 3 which is mostly found in fish oil helps fertility as it linked to healthy hormone function. Good sources of iron and selenium are seafood, meat and poultry.

A good well balanced fertility diet should include five servings of fruit and vegetables, two or three servings of protein and dairy products, and five to six servings of grains. This diet will ensure you have all the vitamins and minerals your body needs. Try to eat smaller meals because three full meals can cause constipation, bloating and pre-menstrual syndrome troubles. These are the Things to Eat Or Drink to Help Bring Fertility Back.

Food Show Lesson Plans

[ad_1]

Just as our nation is experiencing a major fat attack millions of viewers are tuned into television shows focused on food. There may lurk some irony in this phenomenon. Think about it. There is actually a show called “Man Versus Food,” wherein a rather rotund individual seeks to eat all that he can at a variety of sites around the nation. This show plays even as the Centers for Disease Control issues a clarion call about the obesity epidemic and movies like Forks Over Knives present the scientific evidence that our diets are killing us. Alas, Michael Pollan (The Omnivore’s Dilemma) has, in all probability, fewer fans than Adam Richman, the host of “Man Versus Food.” Not much is politically correct about food shows.

Teachers can turn the food craze into effective lesson plans with homework assignments that students will not object to doing. Students can learn something, exercise writing skills, and possibly develop some interests in terms of career while they are being entertained by shows such as “Iron Chef,” “Chopped,” “No Reservations,” “Restaurant Impossible,” or “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.”

I tried such an assignment on both a freshman and a senior class last year. The kid’s opinions about which shows are best are firm; their loyalties are deeply established and they have no problem following the story lines and the characterizations of various personalities. They are alert to the nature of the competition and grow adept at predicting which judge will appreciate a particular chef and which of the meals prepared will earn praise. They learn about spices, herbs, and how to select a particular ingredient for a particular recipe or how to substitute one for another when the occasion calls for some creativity.

Young people watching these food shows quickly become food critics themselves, even without the opportunity to taste the exotic meals prepared. They even become alert to the metaphorical value of what these shows call “presentation.” I’ve had kids talk about poor handwriting in terms of weak presentation and job interviews in terms of presenting the self as a worthy candidate for employment. Hmmmmmm. What could this mean?

It means teachers can use cooking shows as teaching tools in their ELA lesson plans. I created a worksheet that I distributed to my students asking them to identify elements similar to those found in literature, such as conflict, complication and resolution, and to evaluate the show for its pacing, drama, suspense, emotional appeal and themes. Extra credit, I said, when I first began to use the worksheet. Fairly soon, virtually all kids were writing essays, critiques and even formatting their own shows with their age-based themes. A few kids created a show based on veganism in which they suggested using live animals to increase the element of compassion that is so important to people who refuse to participate in the killing of animals for food. The assignment was no longer for extra credit, but a serious part of my effort to meet standards and exercise writing skills.

Some kids actually prepared their own shows. One was on the making of fry bread. The students were reading Sherman Alexie’s novel, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian and they decided to produce a fry bread competition. Everyone loved it, even though some of the results were better used as Frisbees than food. The judges played their parts beautifully and the critiques written by the audience, their fellow classmates, were brilliant. With the right lesson plan, education, quite often, can be entertaining.

The Importance of Refrigerators in Your Life

[ad_1]

Currently, many homesteads own a certain kind of refrigerator so as to maintain the cool temperature of food or drinks. Refrigerators have been with us for many years now; they have been evolving gradually from the first block box having basic shelves to the contemporary greatly advanced versions having a number of features. Although you can easily obtain a cheap refrigerator having few internal features, a number of producers are making advanced fridges having numerous internal features as well as revamped exterior designs.

If you’ve ever been out in the hot sun and return to find your drink as cold as ever, you should be in a position to understand the importance of refrigerators. Sometime back, refrigerators were only considered to be products for the rich, simply because they were considered to be overly expensive for the average family to afford. Currently, most people disregard the advantages of refrigeration. Interestingly, people were able to make a lot of wealth by shipping ice blocks throughout the world so as to sell to rich families.

Prior to refrigeration, it was difficult to preserve food. People tried salting while during the winter season, the food would be covered in snow and keep praying that critters miss it. However, it was still difficult to maintain the right amount of foods and people were forced to keep using money so as to buy foodstuffs.

Refrigeration greatly transformed our lives. It is now easy to preserve our food, thereby maintaining the supply of our food. It also reduces the risks of food-borne diseases. It is possible to keep a packet of milk in the fringe for a number of weeks as compared to the few hours it could stay fresh when put on the top of your counter. This is very essential. It implies that rearing a cow for milk purposes is not very necessary when you can use a fringe to maintain a steady supply of fresh milk.

Refrigeration basics are also applied in the functioning of an air conditioner, which is another great home device. Statistically, it is said that about 5% of all the US electrical energy is used to maintain the cool temperatures of homes. This is greatly remarkable, particularity considering that the concept behind the functioning of refrigerators is straightforward. When you are considering buying a suitable refrigerator for your home, make sure you evaluate the features that you want. This will ensure that you get the best value for your money.

How Much Space Does Nutrisystem Food Take Up?

[ad_1]

I recently received an email where the writer asked me how much room she would need to store her nutrisystem meals. She lived in an apartment which was relatively small and she did not have access to a freezer so she was not sure if this diet was going to work for her. I reassured her that, depending on which plan she chooses, she should be able to make it work. I will discuss this more in the following article.

Storing The Nutrisystem Advanced Meals: Now, there are frozen entrees with this diet, but they come in a separate plan called Nutrisystem Select. These are restaurant quality meals that are quite good, and do require a freezer. However, most people order what is called Nutrisystem Advanced. And these meals have gone through what they call a “soft canning” process that allows for the meals and packages to be in a soft pouch or small container and to lay flat.

Different foods have different packaging but all of them are pretty compact. For example, many of the dinner and lunch foods like the pastas, stir fries, and meat type meals come in a round container. These easily stack on top of one another. The hamburgers and hot dogs come in sort of a flat box. And the shakes and puddings come in a very small package that takes up almost no room.

Honestly, I think that even an entire monthly package that includes five small meals per day could almost completely be stored in one kitchen cabinet. If you don’t have the cabinet space, then you could easily just place your meals in a plastic bin for storage somewhere else. In fact, a lot of the meals are small enough to fit inside of a pull out drawer. The point I’m making is that you don’t need to set aside tons of room and you don’t have to limit yourself to small orders just to be able to fit everything.

Buying small orders is going to cost you more money in the long run and isn’t necessary anyway. By placing small orders, you’re sacrificing being able to use the really good and substantial coupons that take your cost per meal down significantly. So if you’re one of those folks who worries that you don’t have the room for nutrisystem, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. And honestly, this food takes up less space than regular groceries, at least in my experience.

Easy Soundbar Installation and Buying Tips

[ad_1]

As we are all aware by now, the audio fidelity of the TV’s built-in speakers is simply not the best. Many users have opted for a multi-channel home theatre setup while many have opted for multifunctional soundbars. Soundbars have become popular in recent years, thanks to their compact profiles and cost-effectiveness.

As TVs have become bigger and slimmer, the built-in audio solutions haven’t evolved significantly. This is where soundbars find a space in your home cinema setup. Soundbars are sleek, compact and often mounted right below the TV or on the wall. There is a slight catch though, not all soundbars are same. In most cases, you get what you pay for.

Here are key factors to remember while choosing, buying and installing soundbars in your entertainment center. Here, we share buying and installation tips to help you get the most out of your soundbar installation.

Easy Soundbar buying tips:

Sound quality

It is the most important factor that you should consider while buying a soundbar. A good soundbar provides a well-balanced sound that is pleasing to your ears. Audio should be rich, clear and detailed. Most soundbars also have subwoofers to enhance bass reproduction. Aim to choose a speaker with exceptional mid-frequency response to better understand dialogues and lyrics.

Connectivity options

It’s very important to consider how the soundbar will connect to your TV. The most common method is to use an optical cable and most modern TVs support this. However, ensure to check before selecting your soundbar. Many soundbars have HDMI inputs for both audio and video signals (pass through). Most soundbars also feature a 3.5mm minijack or dedicated RCA inputs. These allow connectivity to playback devices such as CD players, iPods, MP3 players, phones and tablets. However, if you’d prefer the convenience of wirelessly streaming, look for a soundbar with built-in Bluetooth or WiFi.

Know your exact requirement

Your soundbar has to fit with your television. Determine the soundbar size your room can accommodate. Remember that certain soundbars are also better in certain spaces. For e.g. if you have an open room, a surround sound system may not work properly. A stereo soundbar should work for you.

Consider the size

Soundbars are available in all shapes and sizes. Opt for a soundbar that suits the size of your room. The bigger model doesn’t always mean better. If you are looking to upgrade your TV speakers in a small bedroom, you can also consider a soundbase i.e. speaker base cum soundbar. Soundbases do the same job as the soundbars. Also, they often have built-in subwoofers, saving you space, and offering a good performance.

Stereo versus. surround sound

Stereo soundbars focus on providing high-quality sound that comes directly from the soundbar. Surround soundbars use special time-delay speakers that bounce off your walls to simulate a multi-speaker surround sound experience without all the wires. Needless to say, surround soundbars are more expensive and may also have added speaker units to be installed. It would be worth knowing that it is better to go for multi-channel home theatre system for an immersive surround sound.

Consider price-to-performance

The most expensive soundbar doesn’t necessarily mean the best one for your requirement. Buy a soundbar that provides great audio and is simple to use and setup. Finally, choose one that sounds right to you.

Soundbar placement tips

  • Center-align the soundbar right under the TV for a balanced sound experience. This ensures that the picture and sound play from the same spatial point source, just the way the cinema engineer intended.
  • Place the soundbar so that the speakers are in line with your ears. This allows you hear more detail, especially at high frequencies. Ensure to be balanced with the preferred height of your TV.
  • To experience the maximum surround sound effect, allow 3 to 8 meters distance between the soundbar and the listening area.
  • Leave at least 1 meter of space between the soundbar and both side walls so that the sound reflects and disperses in a balanced, symmetrical way.
  • Obviously, make sure the soundbar doesn’t block the TV screen. The TV can be elevated higher or wall mounted.
  • The ideal place for the TV and soundbar is on the wall. If the TV is wall mounted, the soundbar should too, if the space permits.
  • When wall mounted, leave 10 to 15 cms gap between the soundbar and TV. This allows easy access to the controls and connectivity options when required.
  • Good sound also depends on your home environment. A room with curtains and carpet helps to dampen the noise reflections for more authentic sound. Speakers and subwoofers out in the open also produce better sound – so avoid placing soundbars in an enclosed shelf and cupboard space.
  • The subwoofer can be placed anywhere in the room. Preferably at least 1 meter away from the main unit. Leave about 10 cms gap between the subwoofer and the wall to let sound carry with the airflow.

Soundbars are clearly here for the long run. They are the sleek and sexy new evolution of the home theatre speaker. These small speaker units can do more than just enhance your television’s speakers. Look for the right soundbar from a reputable brand that can completely change your home audio experience.

How to Plan Relocation Overseas and a New Life Abroad

[ad_1]

There comes a time in life when many of us get itchy feet – we get fed up with the 9 – 5, the commute or just the weather in our own home locations for example, and to alleviate our itchy feet we need a holiday some place far away and ideally exotic!

For others these itchy feet continue to be a problem no matter how many holidays they have and the only solution to the problem is relocation overseas and a brand new life experience abroad.

Do you find yourself increasingly dreaming of what it might be like to live on the coast in Australia, to explore the delights of Turkey or to spend time getting to know Italy and the Italians? Well then, chances are you need to start thinking about expatriating and living life as a resident or a citizen of another nation.

The British are probably the one nationality in the world with the itchiest feet of all! Last year almost 200,000 British citizens left the UK to escape the unfavourable climate, the rising crime statistics and the increasing work hours many are forced to endure thanks to their hefty mortgages! But of those who expatriate and live overseas, many actually return within the first five years because they have failed to make a go of it abroad.

If you want to know how to plan a relocation overseas and a new life abroad there are three main considerations to bear in mind – if you take the time to work through these considerations, chances are you will make the transition abroad a successful and happy one for you and your family

1) Research the country you are interested in.

Pulling up roots and relocating to Istanbul Turkey or Brisbane Australia for example without having taken the time to understand the local climate, culture, job prospects, employment regulations, residency rules and even the local education system and healthcare availability is simply not sensible!

So, you are going to be a stranger in a strange land – but don’t make your life harder and be an ignorant stranger!

Take plenty of time, get a feel for the place before you make a final decision to move there lock stock and barrel – and if either schooling for children and/or employment for you and your partner are going to be essential aspects of your relocation, find out if you can get children into school and even find yourself a job before you move…thus taking the most obvious worries out of the equation.

2) Contact other expatriates who have already made the move.

You will be giving up your social network when you move abroad – so you need to make a new one. Thank God for the internet because you can begin to make new friends before you even move! There are forums and websites like Shelter Offshore dedicated to expatriates and living and working abroad. And through forums you can make contact with others who have made the move before you, glean information from them about what it’s like living day to day in your chosen country and even find out about clubs and events you can get involved with when you move. You never know, you may even build some new and lasting friendships before you even move.

3) Visit the country for a prolonged period.

Selling up and shipping out to Spain, Egypt, New Zealand or Ireland for example without first visiting for a prolonged period and at different times of the year is not a good idea! You need to see a country warts and all in terms of climate and the practicality and reality of spending a lot of time there before you move there.

While you can and should study up on the culture and climate of a given nation you need to live there and explore there for a period of time before you can be sure you want to reside there – you might even consider renting a property overseas first just to test the waters and make sure a relocation overseas and a new life abroad are what you want.

If you do have itchy feet, don’t put up with it – give in to the urge to travel and explore new horizons!

Data damages and losses is one of the most severe issues that many companies face. Some companies have a considerable amount of data that includes the integral credentials for marketing purposes and of their clients. Contacting computer support providers after a data loss becomes necessary because the company’s revenues and reputation greatly depend on it. Business contingency, data back, up and disaster recovery solutions are offered by IT support companies to ensure that critical business data can be recovered in unforeseen situations. Thus, getting back to business becomes more convenient with least hassle involved.

Thus, it is quite apparent that the modern business of today are relying on IT support services and significantly taking advantage of the various areas covered by them.
